After 12 years of making moving digital imagery Harmens found that the goal of his work is to offer the viewer an escape to reality. When he bought his first camera he immediately became fascinated by the magical possibilities of digital imagery.
 
The unique thing about digital imagery is that it’s immaterial: we can’t touch it or move it. One thing we can do with it is view it, talk about it and touch each other’s soul. Harmens’ work is the product of a process in which he’s searching for a new image.. Where the academic way of thinking would be to start from your content and then go to the form, Harmens prefers to start from the form and then think about his story.
